The gap is larger than most families realize

Delays are common. Many go unnoticed until school. Evaluation wait times stretch for months.

Sophia2 years

“She seems to be doing well. I just want to stay informed.”

Curious and growing quickly, with no specific concern. Her parents want an easy way to follow development as new skills emerge.

Confidence today. Clarity as she grows.

Who is behind Nooristic

Nooristic is built by a therapist and reviewed by clinicians who have spent their careers with young children and their parents.

Founder

Samara Khater, MSOT

Samara left her PhD in neuroscience at MIT to build Nooristic. She is a pediatric occupational therapist, with a Master of Science in Occupational Therapy from Tufts University and clinical training through Harvard Medical School and Massachusetts General Hospital, and she previously led healthcare programmes at UNICEF.

Over twelve years she has worked with children and their families in Amman, Cairo, New York and Boston, and managed a therapy unit for eleven of them. Her strength is refusing to look at one symptom in isolation: she reads the medical picture and the behavioural picture together, which is how a feeding problem turns out to be a sensory one, or a hearing problem turns out to be the reason a child’s speech is late. She built Nooristic because she kept meeting parents who had noticed something early and still lost a year finding out what it was.

Our clinical reviewers

Pediatrician, MD

Karim Fahmy, MD

A pediatrician who has practised in New York, Philadelphia and Cairo. He reviews how Nooristic frames medical concerns, so that a screening result points families toward the right kind of appointment rather than the nearest one.

Child Psychologist

Noran Hossam

A child psychologist whose work centres on emotional regulation, behaviour that parents find hard to read, and the relationship between a child and the adults raising them. She reviews the language Nooristic uses with parents, so that a difficult result never lands as blame.

Speech and Language Therapist

Noor Hamza

A speech and language therapist who has worked with families across the UAE and Jordan, across the full range of speech and language difficulties, from late talking to articulation and social communication. She reviews the speech and language pathway inside Nooristic.

Our reviewers guide how Nooristic screens and explains development. They do not review individual children unless you book a consultation with them.

What Nooristic is built on

Nooristic does not invent its own version of child development. The screening follows the milestones clinicians already use, and the home activities follow the evidence therapists already rely on.

The screening

The same milestones your pediatrician works from

  • CDC “Learn the Signs. Act Early.” milestone checklists, revised with the American Academy of Pediatrics in 2022. Each milestone sits at the age by which at least 75% of children reach it, deliberately, so that a missed milestone prompts a conversation instead of a wait-and-see.
  • The AAP Bright Futures schedule, which places developmental surveillance at every well-child visit and formal screening at 9, 18 and 30 months.
  • Established parent-report screening instruments, including the Ages and Stages Questionnaires and the M-CHAT-R/F used for autism screening between 16 and 30 months.
  • WHO motor development milestones for gross motor skills in the first two years.
The home program

Activities therapists already send families home with

  • Parent-mediated intervention research. Across systematic reviews, the strongest and most consistent finding is that coaching a parent changes shared attention and the quality of parent-child interaction, which is exactly what carries progress between sessions.
  • Naturalistic developmental behavioural approaches, which build practice into feeding, dressing, play and bedtime rather than asking a tired parent to add a separate exercise slot.
  • Standard speech, language and occupational therapy practice, including parent-implemented language strategies and motor-learning principles.
  • Twelve years of clinical caseload behind the choices, with every activity reviewed by our clinicians for safety, age-appropriateness and whether it is genuinely worth a parent’s time.

Nooristic is an independent company. We are not affiliated with, endorsed by, or reviewed by the CDC, the American Academy of Pediatrics, the World Health Organization, or the publishers of any screening instrument. We follow their public, peer-reviewed guidance. Nooristic supports developmental screening and guidance. It does not diagnose, and it does not replace a clinical evaluation.
